BECU Membership Eligibility
If you live, work, or go to school in Washington state, you're eligible for BECU membership.

To open a credit union account online, you'll need:
- Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification (TIN)
- Valid U.S. government-issued ID (e.g., a driver's license, state ID or passport)
- Contact information with street address and phone number
You may be asked to verify your address with a utility bill or similar document.
You can open a BECU checking account with no deposit in person and with a minimum $10 deposit online. There are no monthly maintenance fees or minimum balance requirements, making it free to join and easy to get started.
Anyone who meets certain criteria can join BECU. You may either live, work, worship or attend school in certain geographies, be a part of an affiliated organization, or request that a $5 donation be made to the BECU Foundation on your behalf to meet eligibility criteria.
