Teller vs. Tellerless: What's the Difference?
Learn the difference between BECU's teller and tellerless locations, what services each offers and how to choose the right option for your banking needs.
Takeaways: Understand Your Options for Teller and Tellerless Banking
- Most BECU locations are tellerless, offering ATMs and member consultants instead of traditional teller services.
- Member consultants provide personalized guidance for accounts, loans and financial questions, but they don't handle cash.
- Full-service teller locations offer cash-specific services like large deposits and withdrawals and coin services.
- Digital tools and appointments provide flexibility for members to bank in person, online or by phone.
If you're searching for a BECU location, you may be picturing a physical banking branch with a row of tellers standing behind a counter, ready to help you with financial transactions.
But banking looks different at BECU, where most physical locations are tellerless. That's because BECU designs services to fit members' needs both online and in person.
Our member consultants can do many things you might expect from a teller — and more — with a few exceptions. Teller services are available in a variety of formats even in our tellerless locations.

- Member consultants: Trained BECU employees offer one-on-one guidance and services to members.
