Takeaways: New Credit Card Options for Your Life and Budget

  • Three new credit cards1 offer options for points rewards, cash back or a lower ongoing interest rate.
  • All three cards have no annual fee or foreign transaction fees.2
  • An updated application experience lets you check which cards you may qualify for before submitting a full application. If you're not yet a member, you can apply for membership and a credit card at the same time.
  • If approved, you can access your account and add it to a digital wallet before it arrives in the mail.

You have three new BECU credit cards to choose from, each with a different benefit: Elevate earns points on travel and dining, Rise offers cash back on everyday purchases and Lift has BECU's lowest ongoing interest rate.

“Our members want a card that fits their life and how they spend,” said Werner Loots, executive vice president and chief consumer and business solutions officer. “These cards give them more choice.”

After the introductory periods, rates range from 12.74% - 21.74% variable APR as of 11/1/2026.11

May be best for: Budget-conscious borrowers focused on keeping interest costs low, especially if they expect to carry or transfer a balance.

Card Perks and Protections

Whichever card you choose, you won't pay an annual fee or foreign transaction fees. Those savings are one way BECU returns value to members as a not-for-profit credit union. With Rise and Elevate, you can earn rewards without having to offset an annual fee.

All three cards include fraud protection, account alerts and standard Visa benefits, such as extended warranty protection, roadside dispatch, travel and emergency assistance and travel accident insurance.12

Rise and Elevate go a step further with Visa Signature benefits for every cardholder, including perks, services and offers related to travel, hotels and entertainment, plus trip cancellation coverage and lost luggage reimbursement.

Check Your Options Before You Apply

You can check which cards you may qualify for with a soft credit inquiry before submitting a full application. A full application requires a hard credit inquiry, which could temporarily affect your credit score.

Not a BECU member yet? You can apply for membership and a credit card in the same process. Cardholders can also add up to four authorized users.

If approved for a new card account, you can start using it before the physical card arrives in 7-10 business days. You can securely access your card details, add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and start making purchases.

“Members should be able to understand their options before taking the next step,” said Nola Ogunyemi, senior vice president, Lending. “They can check which cards they may qualify for before submitting a full application and, if approved, access their card without waiting for it to arrive in the mail.”

Already Have a BECU Credit Card?

If you already have a BECU credit card, you can continue using it with full access and support. Classic and secured cards will no longer be available to new applications. You can also switch to a new card or apply for a new card and keep your current one.

If you have a classic card, you may be able to switch to a new Lift, Rise or Elevate without a credit pull, provided you meet the eligibility requirements and your account is in good standing. Applying for a new card instead requires a full application.

Note: Introductory offers are not available for switching to a new credit card type.

There's no need to change cards if your current one still meets your needs. If you're considering a different option, compare how its rewards and ongoing interest rate fit the way you use credit.
