Here's how it works:
- You share your unique referral code and the promo code REFER90TH with friends.
- Your friend joins BECU by opening a checking and savings account using the promo code REFER90TH and your unique referral code.
- Your friend completes 10 required transactions within the first 30 days, 2 then keeps their accounts open and in good standing for 90 days, including:
- Make purchases using their BECU debit or credit card. 3
- Write paper or electronic checks.
- Make deposits or withdrawals using your BECU checking account.

1Eligibility. You can apply for membership and open a checking account in person at any BECU location or online at BECU's website. Referring member must be 18 years or older, in good standing, and a primary on a Member Share or Member Advantage savings account. Referred friend must not be an existing member, must be within BECU's field of membership, and be eligible to open and maintain membership. Not all applicants will qualify. Referred friends who were a BECU member during the past six months and are now rejoining BECU do not qualify for the Refer-a-Friend promotion. Joint account holders, Business, Fiduciary, HSA, Zero Dividend, Early Saver account holders, and BECU employees are not eligible to participate in the Refer-a-Friend promotion.
Unique Referral Code. The referred friend must enter the promo code REFER90TH and the referring member's unique referral code at time of application. BECU is not required to pay the promotional incentive for accounts opened without the appropriate promo code and referral code.
Referral Process. Referrals must be submitted and an account opened with the correct promo code and unique ID between June 1, 2026 and August 31, 2026 to qualify for the $190 bonus. Accounts must remain open and in good standing for at least 90 days. New member and referring member will receive the bonus deposit to the Member Share or Member Advantage savings account within 120 days of opening qualifying accounts, provided that they meet the transaction requirements within 30 days and keep accounts open and in good standing for at least 90 days.
Prohibited Actions. The Refer-a-Friend promotion is designed to reward real referrals. Any attempts to manipulate, abuse, or game the promotion are strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:
- Referring individuals who have previously applied for an account with BECU.
- Referrers who engage in a pattern of referring people who themselves refer others in a manner that suggests an attempt to circumvent the promotion's rules may be subject to disqualification and revocation of rewards.
- Collusion, fraudulent behavior, or any activity that violates the spirit of the promotion.
To prevent abuse, BECU may review data from individual applications and referrals to verify the timing and legitimacy of the referred applications. Any referrals that occur in quick succession (within the same day or under suspicious circumstances) will be subject to additional verification and may not qualify for rewards.
Reward Limitations. Referring members may refer a maximum of 25 people during each session and a maximum of 500 times throughout the entirety of the Refer-a-Friend promotion. BECU will not deposit bonus funds to closed accounts or accounts not in good standing.
Audit Rights. BECU reserves the right to review referrals and deny rewards if fraudulent behavior or abuse is suspected. Rewards may be revoked if found to be in violation of our terms.
The bonus deposit will be reported for the new member as interest income to the IRS on Form 1099-INT at year-end and may be reported to the IRS on Form 1099-MISC for the referring member. Other terms, limitations, and conditions may apply. Check with BECU for current Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of accounts. BECU reserves the right to terminate this offer at any time. This promotion cannot be combined with any other promotions. BECU reserves the right to update or change the terms of the Refer-a-Friend promotion at any time to prevent collusion or abuse or adjust the eligibility criteria to better align with the promotion's intended use.
2To meet the transaction requirements, you must open and maintain active Member Share or Member Advantage savings and a checking account. New members have 30 days from the time of account opening to complete 10 or more qualifying transactions. Qualifying transactions must be made using a BECU checking account or with a linked BECU debit card, or BECU credit card and include: ATM deposits, transfers, and withdrawals; write checks or electronic checks; send ACH transactions, send international or domestic wire transfers; point of sale purchases; external or electronic deposits; credit card purchases and cash advances. Checks and electronic checks must clear account within 30 days of account opening.
