As a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative credit union, BECU is rooted in basic principles; principles devoted to giving back: people helping people, members first, social responsibility, and community concern. These values are designed to both honor and support our members and our communities.

People Helping People Awards
80 years have passed since our founders started BECU with the directive of “people helping people”: In today's 21st century, we work to continue this mission. We are encouraged by the work done by BECU members and nonprofit organizations throughout Western Washington, Spokane and Charleston, South Carolina. The BECU People Helping People Awards were formed to recognize and honor our members and the nonprofit organizations they support.
Each year we donate $100,000 to local nonprofits.

The BECU Foundation is a charitable, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) private foundation established in 1995. The foundation was borne of members' recommendations. We award a minimum of 27 scholarships annually, recently we have awarded 80 scholarships to deserving students with tuition.
