BECU to Expand Presence in Downtown Seattle with New Financial Center
One of credit union’s largest locations to serve members who live, work and play in Seattle
BECU,
Washington's largest community credit union, today announced it will open one
of its largest financial centers to-date in downtown Seattle. Totaling more than 7,700
square feet, the new branch will be
located
on 6th Avenue between
Pike Street and Pine Street in the heart of the retail core. BECU is targeting an
open date of late December 2017.
The new location will join more than 40 BECU locations statewide,
including six financial centers that serve more than 155,000 BECU members who
live in Seattle. Members can use all convenient locations to establish
accounts, apply for loans and perform financial transactions. Additional
services and programs unique to this location will be announced at a later
date.
“BECU has been committed
to ‘people helping people’ since we were founded in 1935, which resonates with
the Puget Sound community and has helped us grow to more than 1 million members.
Our growth enables us to build even more financial resiliency for our members
and the communities in which we belong,” said Doug Marshall, BECU’s senior vice
president of retail. “This new location will reflect our member-first focus,
expanding our ability to provide great value, convenience and service to our
members.”
Consistent with
BECU’s operating model, the majority of its financial centers offer an
innovative “tellerless” layout, while empowering members to access their
accounts in ways most convenient for them, including mobile banking, online
banking and ATMs. Member consultants are available to assist with these
transactions, and provide one-on-one support for opening accounts and more
complex services, such as mortgages, personal loans, auto loans and business
services.
Building
Stronger Communities
Last year, BECU put more than $3 million back into its
communities through philanthropic giving and community programs. Examples of
Seattle partnerships include BECU’s support of:
· Express Credit Union for its commitment to provide safe, affordable access to financial services for people with low and moderate incomes.
· Goodwill to help fund job training and education centers in Seattle and Burien.
· Seattle Central College to support the Central to Completion Fund to help eliminate financial need as a barrier to completing a postsecondary degree.
· Seattle Made, an initiative to grow and support a diverse ecosystem of urban manufacturers and producers, expanding opportunities for local ownership and meaningful employment.
